Shared Sustained Thinking & Emotional Wellbeing (SSTEW) is powerful evidence based tool designed to improve Early Years practice and children's outcomes by assessing quality in early education for 2-5 year olds.
Building on the ITERS and ECERS, SSTEW considers adult-child interactions alongside the planning and organisation of learning spaces, to provide a deeper focus on the adult role. SSTEW clearly guides settings on what will really make a difference. In developing their practice based on nationally accredited research:
‘The most effective settings encourage sustained shared thinking and it is seen as a necessary pre-requisite for improving outcomes for children…Cognitive and linguistic outcomes are better as a result of SST' - (EEPE, 2004)
‘Good and Outstanding Nursery practice indicates lasting impact right through to secondary school’ - (EPPSE 2015)
WTSA has supported a wide range of schools and nursery settings to audit their provision and to develop action plans to further improve the quality of education offered. Using respected and experienced SLEs, we have a team available to offer either stand-alone audits or to deliver a package of audit and training depending on your requirements.
Packages are also available for clusters of schools to maximise value and to include training for practitioners and leaders, to enable sustainable use of the tool within your settings.
Prices begin at £350 for an audit. To discuss your needs further please contact WTSA@wpat.warrington.sch.uk
