Making the Difference for Disadvantaged Pupils

From 2019/20, the EEF is widening and extending the work it does, building new collaborations and working in partnership with schools across the country. Warrington Teaching School Alliance has jioned the EEF and Aspirer Research School to kickstart this work.

Approaches to Curriculum Design

CPD aimed at supporting schools to explore methods of cohesive, sequenced curriculum design in preparation for the new School Inspection Framework in 2019. Developed by and being tested by WTSA schools, it explores one approach to developing and evolving curriculum design using evidence based principles.

Raising Attainment in Phonics - CPD sessions available Jan 2019.

Delivered by SLE Jayne Narraway there are a wide range of Phonics CPD sessions taking place in January, aimed at supporting TAs, Teachers and experienced phonics leads to upskill and hone their practice to improve outcomes.

Jean Gross: Resilient pupils, resilient parents, resilient schools...

WTSA are again hosting Oxford University Press with the expert speaker events - this time welcoming Jean Gross to share her expertise on supporting children from lowest attaining groups. This whole day is offered at the subsidised price of £30 p/p. Click here for more information.

History & Geography - 'Why Warrington' resource pack and CPD offer:

Developed by Bruche Primary and Chris Trevor 'Why Warrington' is a localised resource to support high quality teaching of History and Geography using highly relevant and local references and examples. Metacognition - Whole school packages to support teachers implement the latest evidence based approaches to Teaching & Learning:

Working in partnership with National Research School, Meols Cop, WTSA is pleased to offer an opportunity to join WTSA schools in training teachers to explore their understanding of 'how children learn' and using metacognition techniques within the classroom for maximum pupil impact. With year group specific cohorts there are 3x half day sessions launching in Feb/March to enable the comprehensive programme to be undertaken this academic year. NPQs - Fully Funded Places Available (deadline 14th Jan):

WTSA, Great Sankey TSA and The Challenge Teaching School have formed Warrington Leadership Hub to deliver the NPQs across Warrington. We are thrilled to report that all Warrington teachers are eligible to access the NPQML, NPQSL & NPQH free and encourage all interested candidates to register here (select Warrington Leadership Hub as your provider).

NQT Development Sessions:

Following the success of last year WTSA again offer a comprehensive package of support for your NQTs and now available on a pay as you go basis. Suitable for all NQTs regardless of their ITT provider you can view the programme here.
