WTSA recognise that the transition from Trainee Teacher to Newly Qualified Teacher (or NQT as it is commonly known) is a big leap. To support this we have created two support and development routes for NQTs and RQTs (Recently Qualified Teachers) for 2020/21. You can choose from:
The Early Career Mentor programme, which is 6 remotely led peer group sessions with other new teachers led by an experienced mentor. It offers practical support around the 5 core themes of early Career development, advice and ideas for teaching plus the formation of a strong peer network for you to gain long term support in your career progress. The first groups began in Autumn 2020 and new groups can be started throughout the year, register your interest with firstname.lastname@example.org and download our information leaflet to find out more.
Subject specialist teaching sessions open up the training we offer to Trainee Teachers to anyone interested in reviewing or updating their knowledge of best practice content and pedagogy in the primary curriculum. These sessions are ideal for new teachers to engage with experienced teaching professionals who share their experience and latest subject techniques. View the 'Subject Knowledge' section of our CPD programme; to book email email@example.com
In September 2021, the Department for Education will be rolling out a national Early Career Framework package to all NQTs, offering 10% off timetable and bespoke mentoring and training for new teachers for two years.
