In researching the best methodologies to teach a maths mastery curriculum WTSA undertook a small scare review of Shanghai and Singapore maths methods.

Progress of pupils in mastery maths was compared in these two groups of Warrington schools and a consensus reached that Singapore maths showed better progress and early outcomes in schools testing that method. Working closely with Deep Learning TSA the approach has now been adopted by a total of 14 schools locally. A number of Specialist Leaders of Education have been recruited and trained to support WTSA becoming a local hub in the embedding and rolling out of the approach across the 14 schools.

Deep Learning TSA continued to research this area with University of Cumbria, with several Warrington based teacher researchers along with those from other Local Authority areas. The result of this research was a FREE resource which can be accessed on the Deep Learning website.
