Specialist Leaders of Education are designated by Teaching Schools using a rigorous criteria set by the DfE. They are expert practitioners who are experienced mentors and coaches and have supported other schools to improve their practice and outcome. You can learn more about the SLE role here
Warrington Teaching School have a number of SLE who work across Warrington and beyond, supporting schools in their area of expertise. We also regularly recruit for new SLE's , typically identifying which areas of expertise are in demand and seeking to provide high quality coverage.

Aspiring SLE Programme

Warrington Teaching School Alliance has been working to develop an Aspiring SLE Programme to enable up-and-coming leaders of education to access opportunities to develop their skills and amass experience working in schools not their own. This is often a bespoke activity and WTSA welcomes enquiries if this is something you are considering.

Aspiring EYFS SLE Programme

Warrington Teaching School Alliance are leading a large Strategic School Improvement Fund project aimed to improve outcomes in Early Years Literacy and Communication and Language measures. As part of this project we are offering an opportunity to build system leadership capacity and to offer a FREE CPLD package to aspiring SLEs.
This new programme is for teachers who are aspiring Early Years Specialist Leaders of Education and has been designed to allow applicants to better understand the role and skills involved in supporting other schools successfully, for example using coaching and/or facilitation skills to bring about sustainable improvements. It will also enable the shadowing of designated SLEs and opportunities to gain practical experience in school improvement projects.
Programme Aims:
  • Participants to be aware of the latest developments in Teaching Schools
  • To understand where the SLE role fits in school to school support
  • Have opportunities to develop the skills and attributes that would benefit your own leadership
