Ruth Agnew

Ruth became a National Leader of Governance in April 2012. She has experience as a governor, committee chair, vice chair, chair and interim executive board (IEB) member and chair across the primary and secondary sector in seven schools and academies over the last twelve years, and is currently chair of a maintained primary school and an associate member of a secondary school governing body. Ruth supported the National College pilot of the Ofsted external reviews of governance and has conducted over 50 reviews since this time, in primary and secondary schools and academies, and multi-academy trusts.

Ruth was involved in the management of local authority governor support services from 2006 to 2014, and now works independently as a governance consultant. She is an experienced Governor Mark assessor and has supported schools in preparing successful Governor Mark applications. She was a member of the board of directors of GLM Partnership, which oversees Governor Mark, from 2014-2016. She works for the NCTL as NLG Advocate in the Merseyside and Cheshire area. Ruth is also a qualified HR professional with Chartered Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (MCIPD).
